The Transnational Radical Party (TRP) has secured the backing of many personalities who have signed the appeal published on Wednesday in The International Herald Tribune, Il Corriera della Sera, Le Monde and El Pais. These personalities have thus agreed to temporarily sign up to the TRP to help it retain its status as first category consultative non-governmental organisation to the United Nations Economic and Social Committee. EUROPE recalls that the expulsion of the TRP was requested by the Russian Federation that accused it of providing a platform for a Chechen representative at the last session of the UN's Human Rights Commission (also see EUROPE of 14 July, p.6). among the first signatories, we find the winners of the EP Sakharov Prize, Adem Demaci and Wei Jingsheng, Italian Agriculture Minister, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio and French philosopher Andre Glucksmann.
