Dear Ottavio,
I am glad to be your first member from sweden, and hopefully there will
be many more swedes to be joining CORA in the future. You asked about
addresses to other anti prohibitionists in sweden, and of course there
are some, I have managed to get about 100 people to join our swedish
mailing list. You might know about the mailing lists at the Lycaeum,
that are called Legalize! and are available on several languages. Most
people that subscribe to those lists are in favour of the legalization
of drugs, and since repression is that hard in sweden it is natural that
most people come from here. If you can tell me what kind of group you
need to get in contact with, I can probably help you.
There has been two groups formed here lately that want to legalize
cannabis, one in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg. And of course the
freedom front (Frihetsfronten) still wants prohibition to end. I know
many people from the freedom front since I am kind of a libertarian
myself. There is also a group of anarchists in Stockholm that favours
the legalization of drugs. Among the people at the universities it is
mainly criminologists and sociologists that are anti prohibitionists,
but there is only a handful of them that dares to admit to that, since
some of them have had difficulties after expressing their views.
I have, as you might know, been subscribed to your newsletter for some
time now (half a year or so), and I have forwarded it to about 300
people all the time so there is a lot of people with drug liberal views
who knows about CORA by now. I will now try to get more people here in
sweden to join in as members of CORA, since I believe the lobbying in
the European Parliament can be very important, and if you need some help
with translating any documents from english to swedish, I will be glad
to assist you with that as well. Perhaps we can organize a swedish
section of CORA in the future, if we could only get enough members, that
would be something really great. My mother in law has been very active
in the Tibet issue, she was one among the founders of Tibet Initiative
Munchen (TIM) as you might have heard about, so therefore she also knows
Emma Bonino and has been active in events with the Transnational Radical
Party several times. That is how I first found out about you actually. I
think I share most views with both the Transnational Radical Party and
CORA, so I can support you wholehearted.
Best Regards
Mikael Forsberg
