Lhasa, September 23. The law on regional autonomy for China's minority nationalities has enabled Tibet to embark on the road to prosperity, according to Gyaincain Norbu, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Government. "Special powers and flexible policies as provided in the law have greatly promoted political progress, economic prosperity and social development in Tibet," he said according Xinhua news agency. The comunist leader also noted that the autonomy of a greater Tibet "trumpetted by a handful of splittists residing abroad is an attempt to split Tibet from China. The precondition for regional autonomy we advocate is that all areas where regional autonomy is practised are an inseparable part of the People's republic of China". (EuroTibet News N·3)
