New Delhi, November 16. According Reuter corrispondent, "The Dalai Lama said on Wednesday that the efforts of politicians and governments alone were insufficient to bring world peace, and ordinary citizens needed to play an active role. The Nobel Peace Prize winner and Tibetan spiritual leader, who lives in exile in India, told engineering students in New Delhi, 'Peace is difficult to be achieved solely by governments. It is important for individuals to be involved. Sometimes we can blame politicians. But they are a part of the same human society', he said, delivering a lecture on youth, peace and development. He asked young people to shed anger and embrace patience. 'Anger motivated by compassion can be positive', he said, but he added that anger blinded one from truth. To a student who asked how a person could stop being angry at someone who had done wrong, the Dalai Lama said, 'The first thing you do is try'. The world had reached a point where interdependence was important, Dalai Lama said. 'Without impr
oving the other's situation, your own situation cannot be improved. The behaviour of our generation is not so respectable', he told a questioner who had lost respect for adults. 'At the same time, the younger side is also a little short-sighted', he said, as he asked them to give patience a try without losing self confidence or optimism". (EuroTibet News nr.5)
