Dharamsala, December 10. The following is a press release from Eight Tibetan Non-Governmental Organizations in Exile. "Support PEACE MARCH TO LHASA. New Delhi to Lhasa starting March 10, 1995. Tibetans in exile are undertaking a massive Peace March from New Delhi, the capital of India to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to highlight the suffering of the Tibetans under the repressive communist regime of China and seek support from the people of the free world. Tibetans and Tibet supporters throughout the globe will sit for a 24 hour hunger strike on March 10, 1995 the 36th Anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising Day to support the PEACE MARCH TO LHASA.
Purpose:
- The Peace March aims to highlight the devious policies of the communist Chinese authorities in Tibet, particularly the massive transfer Chinese population to Tibet; large scale of destruction Tibet's Environment; and the militarization of Tibet.
Demands:
1) Halt the transfer of Chinese population to Tibet.
2) Unconditional release of all the political prisoners in Tibet.
3) Halt the indiscriminate exploitation of Tibet's natural resources and its environment.
4) Send United Nations delegation to monitor the situation in Tibet.
5) Preserve and respect Tibetan religion, culture and language.
6) Make Tibet a Zone of Peace.
