New York, December 14. In the past few years, concerns over the human rights situation in Tibet have been expressed by not only in the UN human rights bodies in Geneva but also in the UN General Assembly in New York. As known by every Tibet-watcher, the General Assembly was the body in the United Nations which adopted three resolutions on Tibet between 1959 and 1965. At the 49th session of the UN General Assembly this year (September - December), the Governments of European Union, Sweden, Canada and the United States of America made strong references on the situation in Tibet in their statement before the Third Committee which deals with Social, Humanitarian and Cultural issues before the General Assembly.
