SAVE TIBET! MARCH 10th RALLIES COORDINATED IN MORE THAN 42 CITIES WORLDWIDE. 500 PEOPLE FASTING TO SUPPORT THE ACTIONS FOR A FREE TIBET AND FOR AN INTERNATIONAL CHINESE-TIBETAN U.N. CONFERENCE.
The Transnational Radical Party (TRP) and Tibetan Associations worldwide will demonstrate and fast on March 10 for a UN-sponsored conference on Chinese-Tibetan relations.
In New York City 300 Tibetans and their supporters will gather at Ralph Bunche Square in front of the UN building on First Avenue and 43rd Street. Representatives from US Tibet Committee, the Tibetan Women's Committee and the TRP will address the crowd. Then they will march to the Chinese mission to the UN and present a petition to Jiang Zemin, the President of China.
This rally is coordinated with rallies in more than 42 European and American cities, like New York, Washington, Rome, Brussels, Moscow, Budapest, Prague, Sofia, etc. Over 500 people are fasting in a non-violent dialogue to support the initiative worldwide.
These actions function as direct support for the March 10 Peace March, led by his Holiness the Dalai Lama, from Dharamsala to New Dehli on the 36th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule. The Chinese army has illegally occupied Tibet since 1949. Over 1.2 million Tibetans have died under Chinese repression and in labor camps. There has not been any international debate on the rights of Tibet and Tibetans in 30 years.
The TRP is an international, non-violent, non-ideological transparty with tens of thousands of members in 70 countries with its Secretariat based in Rome. The TRP lobbies the UN on democracy, peace and human rights issues and has led numerous militant non-violent campaigns in support of political recognition by the UN and governments of the Dalai Lama and democratic and non-violent initiatives for a Chinese-Tibet conference organized by the U.N.
