China Lashes Out At Resurgence Of Tibet Polyandry.
Beijing, December 28, 1994. According to Reuter, "Chinese officials have lashed out at a rampant resurgence of traditional polyandry in Tibet in violation of the marriage law, vowing to stamp out a practice triggering promiscuity among women who cannot find husbands. 'This practice is a tumour left over from the feudal farmer-slave system of old Tibet', the Tibet Legal Daily newspaper said in an edition received in Beijing on Wednesday. 'It has reached a stage where we have no choice but to remove it'.
