The picketing of the Chinese embassy has taken place today in Moscow. It was organized by representatives of the Radical Party and Friends of Tibet Society in order to draw the public attention to the human rights violations in Tibet. They have chosen this date not occasionally. 36 years ago, in 1959, the people's uprising was cruelly repressed. Tens of thousands of people perished, witnesses say. The activists gathered near the embassy, intended to hand over the petition for Chinese president Jiang Zemin. However, only Chinese journalists went out to the demonstrators. They tried to convince: there are no problems in Tibet. A similar demonstration had been organized today in Saint Petersburg too.
