Beijing, January 24, 1995. A newspaper that reflects official thinking in China Tuesday said the Communist Party must be prepared to wage a protracted struggle against Tibetan separatists who support the Dalai Lama. "The root cause of instability in Tibet is the separatism of the Dalai Lama faction, which is a continuation of the efforts by capitalist and imperialist forces over the last 100 years to split China," the Tibet Daily said. "As long as the Dalai Lama refuses to surrender and give up his separatist activities, we must be prepared for a long-term tit-for-tat struggle against him to the very end until we are victorious," the official newspaper said.
