Washingtont, March 10, 1995. 33 US Senators and Congressmen support Tibetan aspirations on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of Tibetan national uprising day and they wrote a letter to members of the Tibetan community and their loyal supporters in which they mentioned, among other things, "As members of the United States Congress, we join all of you in expressing our heartfelt support for the Tibetan community. We share your commitment to defending the basic human rights of Tibetans, including the right to freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, and freedom of movement, as well as the right to freely elect your political leaders. We vehemently oppose the brutal acts of oppression and persecution perpetrated by the Chinese government against innocent Tibetans."
