DECLARATION BY THE PRESIDENCY ON BEHALF OF THE EUROPEAN
UNION ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN CHINA
The European Union is concerned about the Human Rights situation everywhere in the world, including, therefore, in China.
It deplores the fact that many Chinese dissidents and intellectuals have been arrested in China these past two weeks and calls for their swift release.
The European Union would point out that every political contact with the Chinese leaders is an opportunity to inform them of its concern about Human Rights in China, including Tibet. It did so in January this year, at the first dialogue on Human Rights between the European Union and China, which was held in Brussels.
