The Lhasa Public Health Department has signed an agreement with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Belgium to improve health conditions in rural Lhasa, Xinhua news agency reported. According to the agreement, MSF will provide aid worth l9m yuan to improve health care in the rural counties of Lhunzhub and Nyemo and treating the kaschin-beck disease. This was the third cooperation agreement signed between Tibet and MSF.
In recent years, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Britain, Belgium and Australia put in 3m yuan in constructing a drinking water system in six counties under the jurisdiction of Lhasa.
The British Children's Fund also provided 100,000 yuan for publicizing of awareness of hygiene.
