His Eminence Sakya Trizin, the head of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, visited the San Francisco Bay Area from July 10-18, 1995. He stayed at Ewam Choden Tibetan Buddhist Center, and gave Green Tara and Hevajra empowerments and Thirteen Golden Dharmas of Sakya teachings at the Dharmadhatu Center in Berkeley.
Tibetan Association of Northern California invited His Eminence Trizin Rinpoche to the Berkeley Fellowship of the Unitarian Universalists to a dinner in his honour and to give a talk to the members of the Tibetan community. The Tibetans were honoured to meet him and listen to an excellent talk on the history of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism and the responsibilities of Tibetans in the West. It was also an honour for the Tibetans to meet Deputy Ven. Jamyang Soipa of the Assembly of the Tibetan People's Deputies who came here with His Eminence Trizin Rinpoche. He gave a brief speech about the responsibilities of Tibetans in America.
