Dear Friends,
The Canada Tibet Committee has been facilitating contact between the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, India and the Tibetan Communities and Tibet Support Groups around the globe, through electronic medium. The CTA has received notice that it will no longer be able to use its UNV e-mail system to access the Internet, due to the network's increased e-mail traffic.
The Planning Council in Dharamsala, India (a branch of the Tibetan government-in-exile, which set up the Tibetan Computer Resource Centre), wishes to establish its own node, allowing it to give out unlimited accounts.
As you know, the WTN distributes news on Tibet from major governmental and news agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations, on a daily basis, and is an effective means of informing the public of the seriousness of the situation in Tibet.
Until now, the project has been largely subsidized by the Canada Tibet Committee, with the initial grant from the International Center for Human Rights and Democratic Development based in Montreal. Now the grant money is exhausted. The CTC wishes to continue its assistance to the CTA by partially funding the establishment of the new node, with annually decreasing aid until the system can be more fully self-supporting.
We need your help to keep Dharamsala (CTA) on line, and maintain this vital service.
The following is a breakdown of the annual budget submitted by the Planning Council.
1. ERNET subscription per year Rs 100,000.00
