His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Participate in a Harmony in Diversity Conference in Trinidad and Tobago from 15 to 17 September, 1995
NEW YORK, 20 July -- His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet will participate in the International Conference for Peace and Harmony in a Diverse World in Trinidad and Tobago from 15 to 17 September 1995. In Trinidad and Tobago, a group of prominent citizens, comprising of several religious denominations, ethnic associations, political organizations and prominent members of the University of West Indies, have come together to form a "Harmony in Diversity" Committee which is organizing this conference.
The organizers say that one of the objectives of the conference is "to create the recognition that there will always be diversity, but our respective nationalities, ethnicities, religions, creeds and political philosophies have to be validated in a way that recognizes this diversity." Besides, His Holiness the conference will be attended by the Ooni of Ife, Dr. Roy Nehall, former General Secretary of the Caribbean Conference of Churches, Guyanese Roman Catholic Priest, Father Malcolm Rodrigues and Professor Anand Rambachen, Director of Asian Studies at St. Olaf College in the United States.
