KATMANDU, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Nepal and China have agreed to beef up security along the Nepal-Tibet border with regular meetings between local-level officials, a home ministry spokesman said Friday. He also described as "positive" talks between Chinese and Nepalese officials Thursday to discuss the security issue. The chinese side at the talks was led by director general of the Chinese border security department, Maj. Gen. Zhang Guoguang, while the Nepalese side was led by director general of the department of immigration, Ganesh Bhattarai. The two sides also raised the issue of grazing rights for herds on pastures along the border, the official said. Nepal and china also discussed controlling crime along the border. The last border talks were held in 1991 in Lhasa. A seven-member Chinese delegation arrived in Katmandu Thursday for the talks.
