Lhasa. 3rd August: The Fifth Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Congress has successfully concluded. The congress elected the Fifth Tibet Autonomous Regional CCP Committee that is composed of 55 members and 10 alternate members. The first plenary session at the Fifth Tibet Autonomous Regional CCP Committee that was held today elected a 16-member standing committee, a secretary, executive deputy secretaries and deputy secretaries.

Chen Kuiyuan was elected secretary of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee.

Raidi (Tibetan), Gyaincain Norbu (Tibetan) and Guo Jinlong were elected executive deputy secretaries of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee.

Basang (Tibetan, female), Danzim (Tibetan), Yang Chuantang and Liu Que [0491 4292 - Lieque is the name listed in BBC records] (Tibetan) were elected deputy secretaries of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee.

The 16 elected Standing Committee members are: Chen Kuiyuan', Raidi (Tibetan), Gyaincain Norbu (Tibetan), Guo Jinlong, Basang (Tibetan), Danzim (Tibetan), Yang Chuantang, Liu Que (Tibetan). Hu Yongzhu, Zi Cheng (Tibetan), Chen Hanchang, Buqiong [Puqung is the name listed in BBC records] (Tibetan), Lu Huimin 17120 1920 3046], Li Guangwen (Tibetan), Li Liguo [2621 4539 09481 and Sang Zhu 12718 3796] (Tibetan).

The Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee's Discipline Inspection Commission also held a plenary session today, during which the secretary and deputy secretaries of the commission were elected.

Buqiong (Tibetan) was elected secretary of the Tibet Autonomous Regional CCP Committee's Discipline Inspection Commission.

Wang Wanjun [3769 8001 68741 (Tibetan), Wang Hemin 13769 0735 3046], Qu Jia 12575 051)21 (Tibetan), Zhang Yueping [1728 6460 16271 and Suolang Jianding [4792 2597 1017 1353] (Tibetan) were elected deputy secretaries of the Tibet Autonomous Regional CCP Committee's Discipline Inspection Commission.

[Xinhua's English-language report on this story (1603 gmt 3 Aug 95) says Chen Kuiyuan is 54 and "a graduate of Inner Mongolia Teachers College in 1964".
