BEIJING, Aug 9 (Reuter) - Chinese police have arrested three people trying to smuggle more than 89 kg (196 lbs) of gold across the border from Tibet into Nepal, state television said on Wednesday.

Customs officials in Jingri county in the Himalayan region of Tibet found the gold bars in a jeep, the television report said.

It gave no other details.
