CHANGCHUN, Oct. 30, Asiainfo Services, Inc. -- The largest cooperative project between China and South Africa and the first Volkswagen Jetta SKD project was completed in Changchun last week.

The project development has taken three years, with the South African Volkswagen Company providing major parts and the First Automobile Volkswagen Company being in charge of the assembly of autos, eventually totalling 27,720 Jetta automobiles, all of which will be sold on the domestic market.

The South African Volkswagen Company will continue to provide the First Automobile Volkswagen Company with molds and other equipment. It is estimated that the bilateral trade volume will reach US$1.2 billion this year. South Africa has now become China's largest trade partner from Africa.
