GENEVA 1997:
LESS THAN 35 DAYS UNTIL THE "TWO DAYS" FOR THE FREEDOM OF TIBET.
We are publishing the first in a series of informative and organizational
reports on the hotel situation in Geneva. We ask that all of the groups who intend to participate in the two days in Geneva to make reservations for March 9th at the earliest possible time. The sooner these steps are taken the sooner we will have an idea of how the situation is developing, and will avoid any unnecessary risks.
One of the more important points that must be immediately addressed is the financial situation. The initial budget for Geneva 1997 was estimated to be 50,000 USD. As of today only 5,000 USD and 150 FFR have been deposited in the Geneva 1997 account, only a small part of the 18,000 USD, 3,000 DM and 4,000 CHF that were promised.
Other contributions will also be necessary, but we remind these organizations of their commitment so that they may deposit their contribution at the soonest possible time in the bank account that has been established in Brussels. This money is immediately necessary for the organization of Geneva 1997. The expenditures and budget of Geneva 1997 will be published in this bulletin following the two days of manifestations.

FINANCIAL SITUATION
Numerous commitments of financial contribution for the organization of "Geneva 1997" were collected during the November, 1996 reunion in Brussels and during the Strasburg Seminar. As you know, a current account was opened (*) in which the money for past commitments as well as new and welcome funds can be contributed.

HOTELS IN GENEVA
What follows is the entire list of the hotels in Geneva. Some preliminary notes are required:
* The friends of the TSG of Geneva have been working hard to find more economically feasible solutions to the accommodation problem. They have good news already: the entire Youth Hostel (200 beds) has been reserved. We will keep you posted on the least expensive accommodations and arrangements in coming numbers of this bulletin.
* Important notice: it is important that groups who have planned to arrive in Geneva by bus that they plan their sleeping arrangements before arriving in Geneva. A travel agency may be of assistance in finding less expensive sleeping accommodations, if necessary, outside of Geneva. Cheaper sleeping arrangements may be found in France, at only a few kilometers from the city of Geneva and the border between the two nations.
* We stress that the city of Geneva will have limited hotel availability due to the fact that the International Auto Convention and the opening of the Human Rights Commission's session coincide with our events. We remind all of the national TSG's to make reservations for March 9th as soon as possible for their members.
