MARCH 9-10, FREEDOM FOR TIBET!
SECOND EUROPEAN MANIFESTATION FOR FREEDOM FOR OCCUPIED TIBET.
THE PROGRAM OF THE 2-DAY RALLY.
Geneva-Brussels, March 7, 1997. The campaign for the preparation of the "Satyagraha for freedom for Tibet" - a worldwide nonviolent initiative for freedom for occupied Tibet planned for Spring 1998 - reaches, with the Geneva manifestation, a high moment of international mobilization.
In Geneva, next Sunday and Monday, for the 38th anniversary of the Lhasa upheaval of 1959, thousands of people will gather from all over Europe to ask the beginning of the negotiations between the Tibetan government in exile and the Chinese government. This is the only way to peacefully solve the question of occupied and colonized Tibet and to end the death of the Tibetan people.
The 2-day rally is organized by the European Tibet Communities, the Coordination of the Tibet Support Group, the Intergroup on Tibet at the European Parliament, The Transnational Radical Party.
Other rallies are scheduled in Moscow, Canberra, New York and New Delhi.
The annexed program includes a list of politicians participating in the Geneva manifestation, among which Mr. Kalon Tashi WANGDI, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Tibetan government in exile, Ms. WEI Shan Shan, sister of political dissident and Nobel Peace candidate WEI jingsheng, Ms. Emma BONINO, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. James MOORHOUSE, MEP President of the Intergroup on Tibet at EP, Olivier DUPUIS, MEP and General Secretary of Transnational Radical Party.
