[New York City] - On May 29, His Holiness tire XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet will join The Very Rev. Dr. H. Pritchett, Jr. Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York City in a talk at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, at 7:00pm. The Dalai Lama will be addressing an audience of 4,000 speaking on Harmony in Diversity. This event will also be broadcast live via satellite throughout North America.

At 5:00pm, prior to the public talk, the Dalai Lama will join former President of Costa Rica Dr. Oscar Arias, in an international press conference, to mark the historic signing of a Nobel laureates's International Code of Conduct on Arms Transfers endorsed by over a dozen Nobel Peace laureates around the world. Also taking part in the signing ceremony will be fellow laureates Elie Wiesel, Jose Ramos-Horta, Betty Williams, and representatives of the American Friends Service Comminttee and Amnesty International. The ceremony will take place before an audience of over 500 distinguished leaders and members the press. The Commission of Nobel Peace laureates, established by Dr. Arias in 1995, has drawn up a model International Code of Conduct on Arms Transfers which would serve as the basis of an international agreement outlining strict criteria to govern global arms transfers.
