Bishop Zeng Jingmu, 77, was arrested in April 1995 in connection with an Easter Mass attended by some 20,000 worshippers in Jiangxi Province. Freed after a few days, he was apprehended again on October 4, then released on October 18. In poor health, Bishop Zeng was seized for the third time on November 22. Medical treatment has been denied to him even after he contracted pneumonia during his previous detention in October 1995. In March 1996 Zeng Jingmu received a three-year RTL order from the Jiangxi PSB for refusing to register his group meetings, which attracted many worshipers. Zeng Jingmu has already spent 23 years in detention. (Sources: Human Rights in China - New York)
