Dalai Lama to visit Japan in April: report
TOKYO, Jan 6 (AFP) - Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will visit Japan in April to meet Buddhist followers, Kyodo News agency said Thursday, quoting Buddhist groups.
The 65-year-old winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize will visit Tokyo and Kyoto to give sermons and lectures during his eight-day visit starting April 13, Kyodo said.
When the Dalai Lama last visited Japan in April 1988, China made an unofficial request to Japan not to give him any opportunity to engage in political activities. Beijing regards Tibet as Chinese territory.
