Many of you have written in support of the Tibet Walk2000 we are planning for
this Spring. Thanks so much. Many of you have also indicated that you don't
have any money to contribute, but wish you did. Hey, we are in the same
situation. ITIM is a deeply entrenched grassroots organization. What does
this mean? Well, we ain't got any of them there big donors in our pockets! We
rely on small donations from "average" folks.
This past Wednesday we had a meeting and a very quiet college freshman who
has attended for the past 6 months made an interesting suggestion during a
long fruitless discussion about simple ways to raise money for the walk. He
suggested that we start a "CHANGE FOR TIBET" campaign. Immediately, all of us
were speechless, focused, smiling, and invigorated. My goodness, what a
brilliant idea!
So, the leaders of ITIM have committed to collecting all of their change from
now until the end of the walk on June 24. And, we have decided to ask you to
do the same. Additionally, we have agreed to ask 10 other people we know
(friends, family members, co-workers, classmates) to do the same. We would
like you to also ask 10 people to save their "Change for Tibet." Further,
perhaps you can collect "Change" at your workplace or school.
Since we are in great need of financial support, it would help us if you sent
your first contribution of "Change" by April 20, right before the walk begins
in San Francisco.
We look forward to hearing your reactions to this campaign! If you are
involved in an organization and you want to Co-Sponsor the walk, to be
included in the walk brochure, I will need to know by February 16.
