Report on March 10 Anniversary from Eastern Europe (Hungary, Czech Rep., Slovenia, Lithuania)

HUNGARY: Over 200 people assembled in front of the Chinese Embassy on Saturday, 11 March. It was a very wet day, rained for most of the day. His Holiness' statement (in Hungarian language) was read by Tibor Hendrey, President of the TSG and Rep. Chhime Rigzing said a few words explaining the importance of the 41st annivesary. A five-minute silent prayer was observed, followed by the prayer: Words of Truth, by the three Tibetans in Hungary.

Later, people gathered at the newly opened Office and Hall of the Tibetan Support Group (opened on 10 March 2000), and the film, WIND HORSE was shown. It was very well received.

Three Chinese journalists, including from Xinhua came to observe the Opening Ceremony of the TSG Office, Library, and Hall. The Hall has a capacity to accommodate over 150 people.

CZECH REPUBLIC: 92 Town halls and 50 other Institutions, like schools, tea houses, flew the Tibetan National Flag. Over 350 people took part in the demonstrations in Prague and it was addressed, among others, by Tibetan Teacher, Tenzin Dhargye. A Concert for Tibet was held in the National Monument Hall, attracting over 1800 visitors and Czech TV 1 showed footages of the March 10 events.

SLOVENIA: Tibetan National Flag was flown for two hours at the Municipality Building in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia.

LITHUANIA: Some friends of Tibet led by Mr Druckus Gintaras assembled in front of the Municipality Council Builidng in Kaunas, and offered prayers and read His Holiness's March 10 Statement in Lithuanian Language.
