a couple thoughts on recent msgs:
the question of how many of the "right to lifers" are religious
zealots and how many are not is entirely separate from the need to
avoid phrases like "right to life" which are laden with localized
meaning. (unless of course that's what you mean when you use them)
for example, no matter how innocently you might seek an ultimate
solution to a problem, you would be ill-advised to use the word
"Endloesung" in a german text.
the call for membership is tragically flawed in at least three areas:
first, we who are on the mailing list but do not have BBS access have
been given little information on how the party is organized, of what
it consists, precisely what it does, etc. SECOND, there is no mention
of the current membership (if any), nor of the participation of
nonmembers (such as myself). THIRD, the membership fees are entirely
arbitrary, as they are unrelated to the potential member's personal
financial status. it is absurd to assume that NO haitians have any
money just as it is wrong to think ALL americans could afford a $300
fee. it would be much more practical to ask for what-one-can-afford,
then adjust the structure of the party accordingly.
