injection for the 1982 abduction and slaying of a Houston bar manager.
Larry Norman Anderson was convicted of capital murder in the March 28,
1982, stabbing death of Zelda Webster, who was abducted while closing
Shelee's Club in northwest Houston and robbed of about $1,000.
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Anderson's appeal shortly after midnight
EDT, and Anderson was officially pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. CDT.
Officials said he made no final statement. The Texas Court of Criminal
Appeals rejected an earlier appeal.
Court records show that Anderson's truck was stopped on the night of the
slaying because he was driving without headlights. Police found two bank
bags and a bloodstained knife in the truck. Webster's body was found
nearby.
Anderson had a record before his Texas conviction. In Arkansas, he was
paroled in 1975 after serving two years of a 10-year sentence for
kidnapping, grand larceny and robbery.
Four months later, Anderson was back in prison serving a 21-year sentence
for possession of stolen property and robbery. He was paroled in December
1981, fewer than four months before Webster was slain in Houston.
