(Vice President of General Council of the Radical Party)

Moscow, December 13, 1994

It seems to me, that on sunday was started second Caucasian war (I think,

it can be called also civil war in Russia).

First of all, as it was prognosed by many observers, population of another

north-caucasian republics (subjects of Russian Federation) - Ingushetia and

Dagestan aren't agree to let Russian tanks to "occupy" Chechnya through

their territory and one group of russian tanks and soldiers is blocated in

Dagestan, in Ingushetia about 10 persons were killed, when they tried to

stop tanks (they didn't have any weapons or guns). Among them minister of

health of Ingushetia.

According official information from press-centre of Russian government, 9

Russian soldiers died and 14 were wounded during last night's struggle.

There is no information about Chechenian side. But according independent

information, there were killed more then 30 Russian soldiers. More then 50

were arested.

Just now are going fierce struggles near of Grozny (capital of Chechnya)

and in the border Ingushetia - Chechnya.

Defence minister Grachev declared, that leaders of Ingushetia and Dagestan

are helping to Chechnya. As we see, it was not so easy to win Chechnya, as

thought experts in Kremline.

I think, Eltsin made fatal mistake. Crisis in Chechnya can be the "start

of the end" of his political career. Absolute majorite of both chambers in

Parliament are against this campaigne.

Just now in Duma is discussion about it.

Public opinion also is against. It's clear.

And one, what is also very clear, is, that now Russia (Kremline) received

in it's territory it's "own" Nagorno, Abkhazia, Transnistria.

Before Russia always supported division of the territories of Azerbaijan,

Georgia, Moldova, supported "rights of minorities".

So, the result of this war will show somehting for CIS countries in one

hand and for Russian autonomies in the other.

If Russia win, then Kremline will not be able to impede another States to

make the same (e.g. Ukraine in Crimea, Moldova in Transnistria etc.), or,

if Chechnya will win, why not Tatarstan and others?

Or may be is better to organize "peace-keeping forces" of another CIS

countries and place them in the border between Russia and Chechnya, as it

was done in Georgia?

Another question is, that even when Ruusian troops will enter to Grozny

and Dudaev will run, or arested, or killed, small groups of "Allakh's

soldiers" will go on from mountainous villages, where they already

evacuated wemen, children and old people.

"Confederation of Caucasian people" (illegal terrorist organization)

already declared mobilisation of their armed forces to "defence

independency of Chechnya"...

First Caucasian war (in last century) was going during 30 years...
