Transnational Radical Party will take part in protest action against
bloodshed in Chechnya, organized by members of State Duma from "Russia's
Choice" group on Tuesday, January 10, at 18.00 on Teatraljnaja Square in
Moscow, under the slogans: "Stop Bloodshed In Chechnya", "No To
Militarism", "Against Censorship, For Democracy", "Save Lifes In Chechnya -
Save Democracy In Russia", "Human Rights Are Not An Internal Affair".
Just at the same time (at 16.00 MET) in Rome, where the central office of
Transnational Radical Party is located, its Italian members will
demonstrate in front of Russian Federation embassy in Italy (Via Gaeta, 5),
in order to express protest against mass and brutal violation of human
rights by Russian armed forces in Chechnya and to witness solidarity with
Russian democrats, standing out against war.
Earlier, on December 30, six leaders of Transnational Radical Party (Emma
Bonino, Secretary of the Party, member of Praesidium of the Chamber of
Deputies of the Italian Parliament and recently designated Commissioner of
EU; Marco Pannella, President of the Party and European MP; Olivier Dupuis,
President of General Council of the RP; Antonio Stango, Chairman of Italian
Helsinki Group and member of Secretariat of Radical Party; Mamuka
Tsagareli, Vice President of General Council of the RP; Nikolaj Khramov,
member of RP's General Council) appealed through RF embassy in Rome with an
open letter to Boris Yeltsin, expressing their concern about human rights
violation in Chechnya and requesting to allow them to go to Grozny as
international non-governmental observers. No answer on this letter was
received till now.
