AIDS AND NEW VIRUSES
The Sofia final motion urged the Radical Party to strengthen "in any
possible place....the fight against the spread of AIDS, with particularly
concern for the African continent, with the goal to fill a void in the
International legislation and institutions, and to find an instrument in
order to react in a global and organized way to pandemics such as HIV or
new viruses (Ebola, Marburg, Junin...)."
The creation of a transnational authority with the needed capacity to
guarantee the applications of globally accepted measures is therefore
necessary. The Radical Party believes that a UN Convention could be a
reasonable starting point toward this goal.
