The March from New Delhi to Lhasa, the fasting and other initiatives

scheduled for next March, the World 1996 Satyagraha.

LET TIBET LIVE

On March 10 a Peace March, organized by Tibetans in exile, will move from

New Delhi, capital of India, to Lhasa, capital of Tibet. A walk of 1,700 km

to get a worldwide attention on the suffering of Tibetan people due to the

harsh Chinese oppression and to ask for solidarity from the International

public opinion. Anywhere in the world Tibetans and their friends are

scheduling events and initiatives of support and solidarity.

The Peace March is intended to inform about violent actions taken by the

Chinese government in Tibet, particularly on such issues as: a huge moving

of Chinese people in Tibet, the denying of any civil right to Tibetans, the

large destruction of the Tibetan eco-system, and the militarization of that

country.

For the first time in 35 years, Tibetan refugees in India decided to recall

the occupation of their country with a Peace March planned to start from

the Mahatma Gandhi sanctuary in New Delhi, then crossing several regions of

Northern India and other neighbor countries and finally ending in Lhasa.

This is an important initiative both at the political and symbolical

levels, although Nepalese authorities are already trying to stop it.

Along with other scheduled events, the March is aimed at the following

goals:

1) immediate suspension of forced settlement of Chinese people in Tibet;

2) opening of a Chinese-Tibetan conference, under the UN shield, to define

the future of Tibet;

3) unconditional release of all political prisoners in Tibet;

4) stop indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and eco-system of

Tibet;

5) sending a UN delegation in Tibet to verify current situation;

6) preservation and respect for Tibetan religion, culture and language.

SCHEDULED EVENTS

>From March 6 to 10 in Rome (Piazza Navona) the Radical Party and the

Italia-Tibet Association will host a Week of Mobilization.

On March 10 a non-violent march in single line will reach the Chinese

embassy and in the evening a torch-light rally will be held in Piazza

Navona.

During the same week in many other cities and capitals all around the

world, members of the Radical Party will be organizing demonstrations in

front of Chinese diplomatic buildings. To participate and/or to help,

please contact your Radical Party local office.

FASTING ACTIONS (MARCH 6-10, 1995)

>From March 6 to 10, hundreds of people will be involved in a fasting of

fight and dialogue to reinforce the initiative supporting Tibet. This

action ends at midnight of March 10, and interested people are urged to

give now their adhesion by contacting any local Radical Party office.

Instead of a five days fasting, it also possible to participate with a

single day fasting - on March 10, 1995 - when the March from New Delhi to

Lhasa is planned to start, and in memory of the anniversary (March 10 1959)

of the definitive occupation by Chinese invaders of the capital of Tibet .
