Brussels 2.5.95. - The freeing on bail of Fadil Sulejmani (rector of the
albanian-language University of Tetova, convicted on first instance to two
years and half of jail for "obstruction to a public official") appears like
a first timid changement of attitude by the Macedonian authorities over the
issue of the universitary teaching in albanian language.
Despite the excessive cost of the caution ($ 70.000) for such a slight
offence, the Radical party, after recent meetings held in Skopje with some
Macedonian authorities and after the proposal of a resolution over the
issue to the European parliament, wishes that the Sulejmani's freeing will
lead to to a different judgement at the appeal trial.
The problem of the teaching in albanian language, as well as all the
problems and unsatisfaction of the substantial Albanian ethnic minority in
Macedonia won't be settled by the means of inflexibility and repression,
but only honouring the democratic spirit of the Macedonian Constitution and
the international documents on which is based the birth af the Republic of
Macedonia.
