Please, forgive me for the language errors, but
I don=ABt speak english very well.
Violence. We in Colombia, and the rest of the
world, are questioned every day about the origin
of our violence, of our deads, of our mother=ABs tears.
A few years ago (about 2 or 3) I knew a boy (Carlos Castillo);
this boy, a school friend of my sister, is a quiet, shy and
sad boy. He found in my sister a person who listen to him.
He talk to her about his life; step by step his trust in her
was bigger and he begining to talk about his problems.
He talk about his father, a man who leave to Carlos and
his mother alone and helpless. He talk too, about his godfather
and his life with him (Carlos and his mother must to go to
live with the Carlos=ABs godfather=ABs family). He talk about the
slight and humiliation of his godfather and son, to Carlos and
his mother (they call Carlos =D2arrimado=D3: a person who lives in a
house without any right and without to pay a rent). He talk about
his loneliness: someday, Carlos call my sister because it was his
birthday and he cannot to celebrate it in the godfather=ABs house; =D2he on=
ly
want to hear a HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLOS=D3.
Carlos always had a gun and sometimes he said =D2I will kill me=D3; in the
begining this only was a crazy sentence that he say, but ... the daily
humiliation in the godfather=ABs house was bigger and intolerable; Carlos
begin to say =D2I will kill my godfather=ABs son=D3. The Carlos=ABs friends
talk to Carlos and calm him for the rest of the day, then something
in the godfather=ABs house happen and Carlos was sad and hopeless
again. It seems that Carlos=ABs mother never don=ABt do anything
to protect the Carlos=ABs emotional health. Again and again, the godfather
and his son humiliate to Carlos and his mother, .
Two weeks ago, the President Adviser of Colombia, was murder by 6
bullet wound in his head. Carlos Castillo was confess his crime.
Carlos Castillo is 18 years old; his birthday was in April of 1995. Now
Carlos is completely alone: his mother leave to Carlos and nobody knows
where she is. His school friends makes a collect to buy a blanket for
Carlos. The official lawyer says that maybe Carlos must spent 10-20
years in the prison. He is now isolated in one of the most dangerous prison
of our country.
Maybe the violence is more nearness to our home than we can
to admit. It was not just for the Carlos's godfather and it wasn't
to Carlos and his mother; many things in this life are not just, but
it hurts our humanity.
