Mr. Chairman,

My delegation acknowledges the fact that the establishment of the ICC has received worldwide support from member states and substantial progress has been made towards the realization of the ICC. In this regard, we would like to express our support and appreciation to the Italian Government's offer to hold a diplomatic Conference in Rome in 1998. However, my delegation would like to propose that the diplomatic conference be held not more than four weeks in duration for reasons of limited resources. [...]
