Statement by Mr. Aleksandre V. Zmeevski, Representative of the Russian Federation

[...] In conclusion, Mr. Chairman, let me note that we do not see any serious problems as to holding the diplomatic conference in 1998. As we have already it is exactly the level of the diplomatic conference where the remaining differences can be resolved. And we find it a normal practice, not contradicting the mandate of the Preparatory Committee, to submit to the diplomatic conference a text still subject to finalization. Let me also express sincere gratitude to the Government of Italy and the UN Secretariat for their fruitful activities to prepare the 1998 diplomatic conference.
