Dear Mr. Busdachin,
Thank you for your letter of 19 February to the United Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the UN. He has passed it to me as the person in the Mission responsible for ICC matters.
I have read with interest the "Declaration de Dakar" which you enclosed with the letter together with
a list of participants.
As you probably know, the United Kingdom is strongly committed to the creation of the International Criminal Court and the finalisation of the work at the Rome Conference this summer. The United Kingdom is actively participating in intersessional meetings with a view to facilitating the work of the forthcoming Prepcom and Diplomatic Conference. Last week we hosted a two-day meeting in London of European Union Partners to discuss a number of issues relating to the Court. Our delegation will continue to work actively to ensure as much progress as possible is made at the Prepcom to facilitate the finalisation of work in Rome.
Yours Sincerely
Susan J Dickson
Assistant Legal Adviser
