When I heard about the hunger strike of Oleg, I felt very, very sad, because what Oleg want to do or what he has already done, envolved everyone, envolved all of you and all of us. Because he declare his beeing radical of the radical party. In the radical party, everyone is free and responsable of his own acts, and nobody can tell you what to do or what you cannot do. But we have the example of Gandhi's nonviolence, the examples of many of us, of our hunger strikes, and how, where, why we have choose this way of fighting. And you can read very interesting interventions in Agora`. (Archiv. Partito Radicale).

Emma Bonino (arch. Part. Rad. Number 836) was writing two years ago that every one is responsable of his acts, she tell us , for example, that we have the responsability to VIOLATE in public a law, but then to ask the application of the law AGAINST US who has violate this law.

In Arch.Part.Rad., n.941,942, you can also read by Roberto Cicciomessere how he obtained a law in Italy, that recognize the legal wright to object, to refuse military service. But he obtain this law ASKING to go to jail. He was an outlaw? Well...he asked to be punished! This is RESPECT for laws, that all radical have. Because a nonviolent Radical respect laws, and he is ready to go to jail if he refused to obey a law he judge a bad law. But he must be ready to "pay", by jail, his "political" objection. Only like this, you can obtain a new law, a good one - NOT BEING AN OUTLAW.

Now I must tell you about hunger strike, or starving.

The hunger strike is THE LAST thing you must choose to do, after you have tried everything else...AFTER ! It's the last choice, the most important one. But you must be extremely careful, because if you begin a "hunger strike", you must obtain what you have asked, or...die. The Radical is very serious.

For Oleg: what is he asking ? To whom ? Why ? We, radicals, nonviolents, must ask the "Power" to do something that the Power "promised to do" : I do not eat, because you must do what you have promise; I will never ask you to do something that you never thought to do, because that will be blackmail and suicide.

What is asking, Oleg ? He asks not to go in jail, BUT HE IS GUILTY (if we respect laws): he asks to the russian Governement to act AGAINST his laws, to be outlaw! that is not nonviolence, NEVER.

Nonviolence, and the Radical Party, does not need sacrifice, nor martirious, nor dead ! Nonviolence and the Radical Party just ask to be reasonnable and to respect, always, the law.
