Dear friends,

I am just from the centre of the city. There is nothing especially interesting there. Traffic is blocked in the very centre near the Kremlin. There are some military vehicles there but not many. Soldiers occupied the Central Telegraph Office and do not admit people there. People organize spontaneous manifistations at which declaration of Eltsin and Russian government is read which as well calls for the all-Union strike. For the moment generally situation is quiet.

TV and radio stations are controled by new government. All TV and radio programms are constantly used to announce the appeal of new government to population of the Soviet Union. Broadcasting of independent radio stations was interrupted at about 8.30 a.m. But the most strange thing is that at the same time telephone communication functions, moreover as you can see telematic communication works either. (Perhaps they just do now about existing of telematic systems (-: ).
