BULGARIA: FIRST RADICAL MEETING

The first meeting of RP's bulgarian members took place in Sofia on september, 17, 1992. There were present 44 people, six out of them are members of parliament, as the following list reports in alpha order:

Philip Bokov (Bulgarian Socialist Party, chief of foreign affairs department for the social-democrat fraction);

Emil Kapudaliev (Union of Democratic Forces, member of the parliamentary commission for radio and TV);

Rossen Karadimov (Bulgarian Socialist Party, secretary general of the Alliance for Social-Democracy);

Zdravko Katzarov ((Union of Democratic Forces, enviromentalist from Ecoglasnost fraction);

Elena Poptodorova (Bulgarian Socialist Party, chief of public relations department for the social-democrat fraction);

Pavel Shopov (Union of Democratic Forces, a representative of the Christian-Democrat fraction).

Opening the meeting, the RP's member of the federal council Mr. Olivier Dupuis spoke about the radical struggles "in support of the european political union - not just an inter-governmental economic union - in its federal-democratic meaning (United States of Europe), then in favour of the anglosaxon electoral system for both the western european countries and the central-eastern new democracies, and - last but not least - against the death penalty by law". While the importance of this proposals was well understood by the members taking part in the meeting, the debate was quite monopolized by the "esperanto" international linguistic problem, because of many "esperantisti" members of the radical party in this country. Michele Boselli answered that "the party's rules states that any one-thousand-members mother-tongue automatically becomes an RP's official tongue", meaning that he thinks to "esperanto" as a language like any else, as it happened - for instance - on russian language that recently became an RP's o

fficial language because of the thousands of RP's members in the former USSR.

During the meeting, the leader of the Democratic Gypsies Union - Mr. Manush Romanov - joined the transnational radical cross-party, first of all because of our (his) way of thinking about federalism and minorities.

Apoligizing for my bad english in this report, I hope that our strong efforts in order to build a real transnational political tool, could be a good reason for westerner citizens to join the radical party as soon as possible.

My best regards from Sofia, Bulgaria.
