In October this year the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will discuss the draft of the new Constitution which is to replace the old Constitution of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. However, a serious concerned is caused by the presence in the draft of the new Constitution of Article 21 (3) which retain the death penalty as "the exceptional penalty untl it is completely abolished".

Upon the initiative of Moldovian Radicals we have lauched the transnational campaign for the collection of signatures under the Appeal to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova containing a call to exclude Article 21 (3) from the text of the new Constitution.

Almost one thousand of signatures of the citizens of different countries, including the parliamentarians of Moldova, Ukraine and Russia have been collected under this appeal.

We call upon you with a request to support the transnational Radical campaign against the death penalty in Moldova. We hope that you not only sign the enclosed Appeal but maybe you will succeed in collecting the signatures of parliamentarians, statesmen, personalities of science and culture, citizens of your country, etc.
