On behalf of Mr. Nitin Desai, Under-Secretary General, United Nations Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development (DPCSD), I would like to thank you for sharing with us the programme of action of the Transnational Radical Party. The DPCSD welcomes the efforts and commitment of the Transnational Radical Party to contribute to the overall economic and social goals of the "Agenda for Peace" as well as the "Agenda for the Twenty-first Century". The success of both these agendas depend greatly on the active participation and contributions of groups and institutions in the governmental and non-governmental spheres.

As you may know, the DPCSD houses the Secretariat for the Commission on Sustainable Development. The substantive arm of the Secretariat is the Division for Sustainable Development (DSD). One of the tasks of DSD is to prepare progress reports to the CSD in order to assist the Commission to evaluate progress on implementing Agenda 21, identify problem areas and set global priorities. From this perspective, I have read TRP's environment related plans with much interest: it is precisely through these kinds of initiatives that the extensive environmental agenda will be successfully implemented. In fact, I would be delighted to receive information on the progress and outcomes of the three projects briefly described in the materials you have sent.
