In the Bulgarian capital was held an open meeting of the transnational Radical party.
Among the issues debated, there were the antiprohibitionism on drugs and "New strategies in fighting Aids and pandemias", the latter reported by Filippo di Robilant, special assistant to the Rp's executive.
The Rp'Coordinator for Bulgaria, Michele Boselli, opened the assembly greeting the Italian ambassador Agostino Mathis and thanking him for his presence in the meeting hall, which was crowded by over 100 people, mainly doctors and lawyers, and some Bulgarian MPs.
There were reports also by: dr. Daniela Rakitska, anaesthetist, and many other doctors; prof. Ibrahim Tatarli, Member of Parliament for Movement for rights and freedoms, spoke for the abolition of the death penalty; president of the Bulgarian "esperanto" union prof. Kiril Popov; Venelina Berbenkova from the Green party; writer Kostadin Kiuliumov and MP Gospodin Atanasov (New union for democracy), explained their reasons for joining the Radical party.
Slight turmoil was created by a bald men dressed in paramilitary combat uniform, leader of a so-called neonazi movement who, while praising the virtue of capital punishment, enjoined in a menacing fashion the foreign rapporteurs to leave the Bulgarian territory within 24 hours.
News of the assembly was given by the radio and by the national TV network and by the local relay of Voice of America.
During his visit to Bulgaria, di Robilant met also officials of the Open Society Fund Sofia (Soros foundation), with whom issues of common concern were discussed.
