UNIAN Express News - February 8, 1994 - Evening Release

KIEV. In Brussels Ukraine joined the program Partnership For Peace. Different points of view to UNIAN correspondents expressed the political figures of Ukraine.

Aleksandr Lavrinovich, Vice-President of People's Movement of Ukraine (Rukh):

- I think that some partnership is a useful thing, moreover - partnership for peace. Everybody wants peace. But the decisive importance will depend on how the Ukrainian interests will be respected in the framework of this program proposed by American president. As far as the program will satisfy the vital interests of Ukraine and its defence capability.

Nikolaj Khramov, Radical Party:

- To my mind everything what has happened is the second Yalta because Eastern European countries which were refused by the West in joining NATO and creating such program is the compromise with Zhirinovsky but not Yeltsin. As Western democracies betrayed Bosnia they would be ready to betray another Eastern European countries, and certainly - Ukraine...
