UKRAINIAN ASSOCIATION "AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" HAS APPEALED TO THE PRESIDENT AND TO SUPREME COUNCIL OF UKRAINE AND DEMANDED TO ABOLISH DEATH PENALTY

Odessa. The constituent congress of Ukrainian association of international organization for human rights "Amnesty International" has taken place on April 3. According to Miroslav Marinovich, the chairman of the association from Drogobych, the purpose of the congress was to adopt the statute and to elect national committee of "Amnesty International". "We will struggle for human rights,"-- said he in the interview to UNIAN -- "irrespective of his political and religious convictions, of colour of his skin, of his language and nationality, we will demand true court, abolition of tortures and humiliations of imprisoned." The congress of Ukrainian association "Amnesty International" has elected the national committee of 7 people, and Alexander Bukalov from Donetsk has become the deputy chairman of the committee. Participants of the congress have submitted an appeal to the President and to Supreme Council of Ukraine for abolition of death penalty.
