Today, on September 21, 5:00 p.m., collaborator of Radical party Kiev office Alexander Kostritski met with journalists of one of the most famous Ukrainian newspapers "Vseukrainskije Vedomosti".
Representatives of the newspaper were interested in Radical party activities. Main topics of the interview, that lasted more than two and a half hours, were:
-- the history of foundation of Radical party;
-- campaign of enlistment of new members in Ukraine for year 1994;
-- initiatives of Radical party in Ukrainian Supreme Council;
-- the "No Peace Without Justice" campaign and the initiative for urgent foundation of permanent International Tribunal on war crimes;
-- campaign for abolition of death penalty in the world before year 2000.
There is the only one deputy of Ukrainian Parliament -- Pavlo Movchan -- who is a member of Radical party now. However, there are many people among newly elected deputies, who were enlisted to the party in 1992 and 1993, and who support initiatives put forward by Radical party. Thus, though perspectives of activity of Radical party with deputies of the Parliament are good enough, collaborators of Kiev office of RP have not appropriate abilities to do that work. The contact was established before the present time with several deputies by their home addresses, because no collaborator of Kiev office has letter of credit in the Supreme Council.
As to the "No Peace Without Justice" campaign and the initiative for urgent foundation of permanent International Tribunal on war crimes, Alexander Kostritski said, that Radical party carries out a campaign of gathering signatures under the appeal to General Secretary of UN, Chairman of UN General Assembly, and Chairman of VI Committee of UN General Assembly. The appeal is for the draft Statute of International Tribunal to be discussed at the 49-th session of UN General Assembly to convoke a UN Conference in 1995 to adopt the Treaty on foundation and functioning of International Criminal Tribunal.
Concerning the "Hands Off Cain" campaign for abolition of death penalty, the discussion was about probable initiatives of Radical party for amending of draft Criminal Code of Ukraine, that contains now 26 articles providing application of death penalty as a capital punishment.
At the end of the meeting, journalists have expressed their intention to support initiatives of Radical party and to illustrate its activities in their newspaper.
