Unusual mail was received in Supreme Council of Byelorussian Republic on October 4. All deputies of the parliament have received a letter from Secretary of Radical party Emma Bonino and Chairman of General Council of RP Olivier Dupuis. The letter contains an appeal to UN General Assembly to make an appropriate decision and to undertake necessary measures during current 49th session to discuss the draft Statute and to convoke UN Conference in 1995 to approve the Treaty on establishment and functioning of International Criminal Tribunal.
"In the whole world from ex-Yugoslavia to Ruanda, during numerous tragical aggressions and wars, drammatic conflicts are lasting and appearing, during which humane values and rights are trampled on, and atrocities are commited, that revive terrors and violation of totalitarian and communist regimes. International community and UN needs to create urgently a new justice and a new jurisdiction, expressing will of citizens and democratic governments, and to approve their functioning by establishment of Permanent Tribunal on crimes against humanism, because that could make it possible to realize the effort that was already realized partially by creation of the Tribunal on crimes committed in ex-Yugoslavia"-- says the appeal.
These days Emma Bonino and Olivier Dupuis work at the session of UN General Assembly, where they meet outstanding politicians and public figures of the whole world. As a journalist of BELINFORM has learnt from sources that win confidence, the idea of creation of International Tribunal was broadly supported by present at the UN session. Time will show how active are deputies of independent Byelorussian parliament and how familiar are ideas of democracy and equality to them.
