The Aids bill approved by the State Duma on November 11 will be considered by the Federation Council at its next session. Most likely it will be voted down. This opinion expressed the press secretary of Jury Algunov, the Chair of the Council, in his talk with the Interfax correspondent. According to him, the measures provided by this bill violate constitutional rights of Russian citizens as well as common international regulations on human rights.

At the same time, according to ITAR-TASS, the deputies of the Federation Council approved on November 17 the amendments to the Russian Federation Criminal Code aimed at prevention of infectious diseases. From now on divulging of information that is regarded as medical secret as well as violation of rules of prevention of several diseases including Aids, syphilis, tuberculosis, etc. involves juridical responsibility.
