As it became known today, the draft bill on AIDS will not be examined during the regular session of Federation Council, which convenes tomorrow. The reason is expending of 14 days, given to Federation Council according to the Russian Constitution to examine a draft law passed by Duma. Therefore, the Aids Bill should now be submitted for approval directly to the president Boris Yeltsin. Vladimir Shumejko, chairman of Federation Council, wrote already a letter to the president, asking him to use his veto in order to turn it back to State Duma for remaking.
That is why Radical Party took decision to abolish the demonstration against Aids Bill, providing the obligatory HIV testing all the foreigners entering Russia, which was earlier appointed on December 6, 9:30 in front of Federation Council.
Now Radical Party intends also to appeal to the president Yeltsin, asking him to use veto against this bill.
In February this year Transnational Radical Party drafted a project of the worldwide institutional campaign against AIDS and other pandemics, which main aim is to elaborate the united universal approach and adopting of an international strategy in struggle against AIDS.
